Positive Negativity

I've learned with drawing that after a certain level you have to rely on critiques from others as the only way to get better. You must identify weaknesses in order to fix them. Welcome negative responses that have a useful critical response as an opportunity. Remove your emotions from the equation, they are being critical of your work not of you. Disregard negative comments that are unfounded, and of course don't feed the trolls.

Not everyone has the same tastes, such as many directors complaining about comic book movies. Not every opinion is going to be useful. Just don't lose your voice. Hans Christian Andersen got discouraged because the literary circles at that time were into complex prose. If he had shifted his mold to be what they wanted he would have lost the accessibility of his fairy tales. Many things got passed up for a while including Star Wars by nearly every studio, components of personal computers by Xerox.

If you don't see the problems you can't fix them.
